Italy: March 11, 2019 -March 18,2019

Tornado, Hurricane, Cyclone!  Any one of these weather phenomenon could describe the pace of Dr. Sears lecture series tour of Italy.

Starting in Milan the day of his arrival, he joined Dr. Daniela Morandi for the initiation of the lecture series Positive Nutrition. This series highlighted the anti-inflammatory benefits of the Zone diet for weight reduction, the benefits of OmegaRx fish oil to help resolve inflammation and the use of polyphenols like MaquiRx to initiate the healing response or repair.  Dr. Daniela Morandi followed his lecture on the subject of inner and outer beauty with Omega-3s based on the Omega 3 power of “Beauty, Vitality and Concentration. “ Dr. Daniela Morandi is a Nutritionist and Naturopathic. She specializes in applying the Zone® program under the direct mentorship of Dr. Barry Sears with whom she personally collaborates in research and dissemination in Europe.

Also present and speaking at this conference was Dr. Camillo Ricordi who spoke on the role of fish oil and diabetes.  Dr. Camillo Ricordi, is a diabetes researcher based in Miami, FL. He currently serves as Director of the Diabetes Research Institute, a position he has held since 1996. He is the Chief Academic Officer of the Diabetes Research Institute of the University of Miami and is director of the DRI's Cell Transplant Center. He has been active in stem cell research and its applications to treating diabetes, particularly Type 1 Diabetes. He specializes in pancreatic islet transplantation.  In 2018 DRI launched the POSEIDON Study to Assess Impact of Omega-3 and Vitamin D in Type 1 Diabetes. Several scientific reports have suggested that high-dose omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D may have a beneficial effect on autoimmune conditions, like type 1 diabetes. DRI researchers will formally test the effects of this intervention in children and adults newly diagnosed and in those with longer-standing T1D to evaluate any benefit on reducing inflammation, halting autoimmunity, and increasing insulin sensitivity and secretion.

Dr. Sears and Dr. Morandi were then whisked to the next stops which included Forli, Rimini, Pordenone, Lugano, Brescia and  back to Milan. Dr. Sears and Dr. Morandi repeated and enhanced the lecture series by including a lecture on the relationship of Omega-3 to women to large audiences of pharmacists.

Back in Milan, Dr. Sears provided a Master course on the Modulation of the inflammatory process and its resolution, role of Omega-3 and Polyphenols.

Welcome home Dr. Sears for a well deserved rest.
