Breaking down the latest research on Anti-Inflammatory Nutrition

Elite athletes are always looking for the next new thing to improve their performance. One of the reasons we work with elite athletes is because if our food technology can improve their performance, it can improve the performance of individuals with chronic disease or those simply wishing to get more energy out of life.

Two of our newest products do exactly that. The first is OmegaRx® Sport. This is the next generation of higher-potency omega-3 fatty acids to reduce inflammation and improve performance.

OmegaRx Sport contains 20% more EPA than our flagship product (OmegaRx) as well as catalytic amounts of sesamol and gamma linolenic acid (GLA) to further generate more energy. I say catalytic amounts because we have found higher amounts are not nearly as effective as the new levels in OmegaRx Sport. The sesamol activates the gene transcription factor PPARα that burns fat more effectively for energy. The GLA enhances the production of certain powerful anti-inflammatory eicosanoids (like PGE1) that also increase vasodilation. Since elite athletes live in a world of training-induced inflammation, with OmegaRx Sport they can recover at a much faster rate.

The second product for enhanced sports performance is our Zone PastaRx. Although developed to help maintain stable blood sugar levels for diabetics, it does the same for elite athletes. This allows them to run longer at higher levels.

Here are some of the comments from our top Zone athletes:

Dean Karnazes, ultra-marathon champion, runner of 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days. Named by Men’s Fitness magazine as “one of the fittest men on the planet”.

“Zone PastaRx is a sensible way to replenish carbohydrate stores without disrupting blood sugar balance. And with 20 grams of protein per serving, Zone PastaRx satiates hunger far more effectively than traditional pasta."

Dede Griesbauer, professional triathlete

“As a former swimmer, pasta quickly became a four-letter word, with one extra letter, in my world, after being force-fed the stuff before just about every competition.  Re-entering the athletic world as a pro triathlete, I knew the importance of carbohydrates, but still couldn't get myself to wolf down a plate of pasta.  It'd leave me feeling bloated, heavy, and in a matter of 2 hours, hungry again.

Zone PastaRx is completely different.  Aside from having similar consistency and taste to traditional pasta, the similarities end there.  With 20 grams of protein, the Zone PastaRx is the perfect pre- and post-workout food for me.  It provides balanced nutrition between carbohydrate for energy and protein for muscle recovery.  The combination of the two leaves me feeling satiated but never bloated and free of the post-pasta blues forever!

I'll travel to all my competitions with Zone PastaRx... that is, if there's any left after all my training!"

The combination of OmegaRx Sport with Zone PastaRx gives elite athletes an unbeatable combination.
